Building faro — my own lighthouse on the web

This is the first entry. I’ll use this space to tell the story of building the things in my portfolio — warren, gollum, and whatever comes next.

Why build from scratch?

I was told a popular blog engine was the best place to start. But I didn’t just want a blog — I wanted a home: a place that sells what I do as a Data Scientist, links to the tools I’m building, and keeps my CV and writing in one fast, owned, no-database site.

So faro — Spanish for lighthouse — was born: a beacon pointing to everything I make.

What’s next

  • The story behind warren and its investment theses
  • How gollum hunts down the best value-for-money at auction
  • Why I self-host the whole stack on a single box

More soon — and it’s coming, one post at a time.
